What the Tech: Dislike button scam

Facebook is introducing two new features that will soon start showing up on your account and scammers are taking advantage.

Several security teams have found posts claiming that if you click it, you’ll be one of the first to get the new dislike button on Facebook.

One post found by Hackread asks users to click it and fill out a brief list of questions in order to get the dislike button before everyone else.

The post even has a time limit, saying if you don’t do it quickly, your opportunity will be passed along to someone else.

Hackread reports users who click the button will be asked for log-in credentials and then to share the post with their friends.

As a reminder, you will not have to do anything to get the dislike button once it’s rolled out. It will just show up in your newsfeed.

Facebook will also never ask you for your information.

Also those boring profile pictures are about to get jazzed up.

Facebook is bringing us animated profile pictures.

You’ll be able to record 7 seconds of yourself and use that as your profile picture.

No word on when we can expect to see the new video profiles.
