Dorena-Hickman Ferry to reopen Thursday after temporary closure

The Dorena-Hickman Ferry is scheduled to reopen at 7 a.m. Thursday, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. This after opening, then closing on Wednesday.

KYTC spokesperson Keith Todd said the ferry was temporarily closed Wednesday afternoon because a cable became tangled on one of the propellers. It had just reopened that morning after a two-week closure. Todd said the issue was fixed Wednesday night, and the ferry is back in good running order.

Ferry Captain Jeremy Newsom told KYTC that the ferry — which connects Kentucky 1354 at Hickman, Kentucky, with Missouri Route A and Route 77 near Dorena, Missouri — plans to reopen with normal service on Thursday morning.
