Lane restriction planned on I-24 Ohio River Bridge connecting Metropolis and Paducah

A lane reduction is planned to start Monday on the I-24 Ohio River Bridge connecting Metropolis and Paducah, the Illinois Department of Transportation says.

IDOT says starting Monday, Oct. 19, the right lane of the eastbound side of the bridge will be closed. The lane will be closed to allow installation of new bearings on the bridge.

The lane reduction is expected to be lifted by Nov. 16. Signs and message boards will be in place to alert drivers  to the lane closure. IDOT asks drivers to slow down and be cautious while traveling through the work zone. Workers will be working underneath the bridge deck.
