Shots fired near Murray State campus

Shots were reportedly fired near the campus of Murray State University Tuesday night.

An alert on the college’s website says that Tuesday around 9:30 p.m., "unknown suspects" fired a gun multiple times at into a home northwest of MSU’s campus.

"To be clear," the alert reads, "this incident did NOT occur on campus."

The alert says no further details about the suspect or the incident are known at this time, but the Murray Police Department is investigating the incident.

"Although the campus remains open," the alert continues, "Murray State Police is encouraging the campus community to be mindful of their safety. Please call Murray State Police 270-809-2222 or use the LiveSafe App, if you observe any suspicious activity on or around the campus."
