Man charged with arson and falsely reporting an incident
A Reidland man was charged with arson and false reporting Tuesday, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department.
The sheriff’s department says it responded to a reported arson on Epperson Road Tuesday. A man who rented the home, 33-year-old Jeremiah Yetter, told deputies when he and his wife got home he found that several items had been piled up on the garage floor and set on fire. Yetter was renting the home from his father.
The sheriff’s department alleges that Yetter set the fire in the garage and made two other false reports previously:
- On Oct. 14, deputies say, Yetter reported someone entered his property early in the morning, threw a cinder block through the front windshield of his vehicle and flattened the tires.
- Deputies say on Oct. 19 he contacted the sheriff’s department and reported two people in trench coats — one carrying a machete — walked out of the woods behind his home and ran away when they saw him. Yetter allegedly placed a machete and a pair of gloves at the edge of the woods for deputies to find.
Charges on those two reports are pending. Yetter was charged with second degree arson and falsely reporting an incident regarding the garage fire.
