Illinois man sentenced to prison for sexual assault of minor in late 1990s

An Alton, Illinois man was sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting a teenager in the late 1990s.

In December 2014, the victim told the Alton Police Department that 54-year-old Robert Jacquot has sexually assaulted her when she was 15 years old, which would have been between 1998 and 1999.

The victim said she was a relative of Jacquot and that the assault took place on the family farm in DeSoto, Illinois.

Jacquot admitted to the sexual assault.

He was charged with one count of criminal sexual assault and sentenced to serve seven years in prison.

Illinois law allows prosecution of sexual assault cases involving minor if brought within 20 years of the minor turning 18.
