Man arrested on weapons charges in southern Illinois

Carbondale, Illinois, police say they arrested a man on multiple weapons charges Tuesday. 

The Carbondale Police Department says at around 7:55 p.m., Tuesday, officers responded to a report of a person with a gun in the 700 block of South Poplar Street. Police say 34-year-old Antone Rayford, threatened a group of people and had a gun. 

The police department says officers found and arrested Rayford without incident. He was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, aggravated assault and disorderly conduct. He was jailed at the Jackson County Jail.
