Dorena-Hickman Ferry closed due to low water

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the Dorena-Hickman Ferry is closed Wednesday because of low water on the Mississippi River.

KYTC spokesman Keith Todd says the ferry — that connects Kentucky 1354 at Hickman with Missouri Route A and Route 77 near Dorena —  is unable to use the Missouri landing.

Todd says the ferry will stay closed until the river level rises about 4 to 6 inches on the Cairo gage.
