Woman crashes in local cemetery, charged with DUI

McCracken County Sheriff Deputies arrested 53-year-old Anita Ross just after 5:00 Wednesday evening. Deputies say Ross lost consciousness and crashed in Woodlawn Memorial Garden. Ross hit a sign when she drove through the intersection of Lovelaceville Florance Station Road and old US Highway 45. Deputies say she then drove through a ditch and then through part of the cemetery. Ross hit a flag pole, a large stone sign, a curb and at least 8 grave stones. Deputies say she also caused significant damage to a building and the landscaping at the cemetery.

Deputies say Mercy Regional EMS treated her for minor injuries at the scene and took her to Lourdes Hospital for further treatment.

Ross is charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and drugs and two counts of criminal mischief. This is Ross’ third DUI offense.
