Missouri trial of man charged with sodomy of a child moved to New Madrid County

There will be a change of venue for the trial of a Missouri man known for playing Santa Claus.

Jeffrey Moffat is charged with statutory sodomy of a child younger than 14. While the trial has been moved to New Madrid County, Moffat will stay in the Cape Girardeau County Jail.

Judge Benjamin Lewis denied a request to reduce Moffat’s bond from 50,000 cash. Moffat has not been accused of committing any crimes while he volunteered as a Santa Claus. He has been accused of molesting the child of a former neighbor.
