Applications for mural project being taken in Carbondale

Local artists are being asked to submit their ideas for a new mural in Carbondale.

Carbondale Community Arts and Carbondale Main Street are looking to commission a mural to be put along the side of multiple buildings located in the 200 block of North Washington Street.

There are four independent buildings and a north facing wall. Artists can submit a design for the entire block, or just one building.

Collaborations with other artists will also be taken.

The two organizations say the goal of the project is to enhance a sense of place for the area, beautify the streetscape, encourage pedestrian traffic, reflect community pride, and engage the local community.

Proposals will be accepted through December 1. The application can be found here.
