Dense fog being blamed for semi wreck

Dense fog is being blamed for a semi wreck at the Interstate 24 and Interstate 57 interchange.

Illinois State Police say the semi was westbound on I-24 and exiting onto the I-54 northbound ramp.

The semi exited outside the curved ramp and the driver over-corrected, causing the semi to roll-over.

The driver and a passenger had minor injuries. Both were taken to a local hospital.

Dense fog is being blamed for the crash. Visibility was less than 75 feet when the crash occurred.

The driver of the semi, 51-year-old timothy Mattert of Paducah, was charged with improper lane use and driving too fast for conditions.
