Fatal wreck under investigation

Paducah police say a woman is dead after a one-car wreck Wednesday afternoon on Paducah’s south side.

Police say 32-year-old Anita Lawless died early Wednesday evening after a wreck on Irvin Cobb Drive between Tully Street and Locust Drive.

Witnesses told officers Lawless was driving north on Irvin Cobb Drive around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday when her 2005 Toyota Matrix started to veer right. The car hit the curb and a utility pole, breaking the pole in half before flipping several times. Lawless was ejected from the vehicle when it flipped.

Lawless was taken to Baptist Health Paducah, where police say she died shortly after 5 p.m.

The police department’s collision reconstruction team is investigating the crash.
