Verso paper mill begins idle status process

On Friday, 11 more people will clock out and turn in their badges for the last time at the Verso paper mill in Ballard County.

United Paperworks International Union Local 680 President Eddie Summers says all of the employees will be given a last meal before they leave.

Employees will receive packets detailing how they can go back to school and apply for unemployment assistance.

They’ll also get information on mental and marital counseling should they need it.

The mill will be transitioning to idle status through the 15 of this month.
