Marion, Illinois, VA Medical Center to honor 101-year-old veteran Tuesday

Marion VA Medical Center in Illinois says it plans to host a town hall and reception for veterans on Tuesday, with a special guest: a 101-year-old World War II veteran who will celebrate his 102nd birthday on Friday.

The event will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday in the medical center’s Rec Hall, on the second floor of the main hospital.

The hospital says veterans are encouraged to attend and share their military experiences, as well as wish the World War II veteran a happy birthday. Staff will be on hand to answer questions about Veterans Affairs health care, and refreshments will be served.
