Man airlifted to hospital after hitting business sign

A Mayfield man had to be airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center after he crashed his truck into a sign.

The Graves County Sheriff’s Office say 69-year-old Charles Willett was driving east on KY 80 east when he crossed the median, hit a road sign, continued across the road, and hit a sign in front of PGA before overturning in front of the business.

Willett said he didn’t remember what happened and deputies believe he suffered from a medical emergency.

He had to be extracted from the truck and was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The westbound lanes of KY 80 east had to be shutdown at KY 1124 for the helicopter.
