Two firefighters injured, one person saved in overnight house fire

Two firefighters were injured while responding to a house fire in Cape Girardeau on Monday.

The Cape Girardeau Fire Department says they were called to a house fire at 389 Country Club just after 8:00 p.m.

A neighbor told firefighters that a person may be trapped inside and firefighters began a search of the home.

During the search, one firefighter fell through the floor into the basement.

Other firefighters were able to find him and help him get out of the home.

Another firefighter was hit by falling debris.

Firefighters were able to find the victim in the back of the home.

That person was rescued and taken to a local hospital.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
