Water main break in Murray causes road closure, boil order

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says a section of Main Street in Murray is closed because of a water main break.

KYTC spokesman Keith Todd says Main Street in closed between 15th Street and 16th Street in Murray. Todd says the water leak has bucked the roadway.

The section of Main Street, which is also part of Kentucky 94, will stay closed until the water line and pavement can be repaired. The duration of the closure is unknown at this time.

Murray public works says some water customers in the area of the water main break will lose water. Customers who lose water will be under a boil order when the water comes back on.

The department recommends bringing all water to a full, rolling boil for at least five minutes. You can store the boiled water in the refrigerator or at room temperature in a closed container until it is needed.

The order is in place until further notice.
