Electric company merger approved

A merger between two area electric companies will take effect January 1st.

Members of Gibson Electric voted in favor of merging with the Hickman-Fulton Counties RECC at their latest meeting.

Hickman-Fulton members voted in favor of the merger back in October.

Their board chairman says the merger will save the average customer $212 each year.

No pay cuts or job cuts are expected.
