36 pounds of marijuana found during traffic stop

Kentucky State Police arrested a man who they say had 36 pounds of marijuana inside his vehicle.

Police say they pulled over 59-year-old Katkeo Sayavongsa of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Thursday morning on Interstate 24 in Lyon County.

Troopers say the drugs were packed inside three suitcases.

The street value of the marijuana is about $80,000.

Sayavongsa was charged with no registration plates, trafficking in marijuana greater than five pounds, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was taken to the Caldwell County Detention Center.
