Man charged with murder of parents makes first court appearance

A man accused of shooting and killing his parents then dumping them in the Mississippi River made his first appearance in court Wednesday morning.

A judge made a preliminary hearing date for Thomas McRoy. It is set for December 23rd.

McRoy is charged with two counts of murder and two counts of armed criminal action in the death of his parents Larry and Roxann McRoy.

Their bodies were found near Dorena, Missouri last week.

McRoy is being held in the Scott County Jail under a $200,000 cash bond.
