Black Friday madness sweeps shoppers in southern Illinois
Black Friday shoppers kept their cool at the Target in Marion, Illinois. While the day can be insane, many shoppers turn the day in to some big fun.
Hordes of shoppers flocked to malls and big name stores, hoping to score a big deal.
"Me and my mom joke that it’s like my favorite holiday, though it’s not really a holiday. But we always go out and have a girl time and just get it all done in one night,” said Cassandra Watkins.
One group of gals at Target said they started their trip at 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving. And 12 hours later? They aren’t stopping, hitting every store they can.
"Definitely over 10. Probably closer to 15? Oh, definitely. And just a few more to go!" says Kim Gossett. She was out with friends Leslie Hacker and Jillian Ramsey. They joked that they’d bought one of everything by that point.
The shoppers are trading in their turkeys for the Christmas season and all kinds of gifts.
"Fun stuff,” said Christy Holmes. "And Christmas,” said Clyde Boswell. "I’m shopping for me!" Holmes added.
And although Thanksgiving is over, shoppers say they’ve still got a lot to be thankful for this holiday season.
"Thank you to my husband for my wonderful Christmas present! I can’t wait for you to see it! "You’re going to love it!” Hacker said.
There’s still time to check out some of the Black Friday deals if you haven’t yet. The Illinois Star Centre Mall closes at 9 p.m., Target is open until 11 p.m. on Black Friday.
