Man injured when van hits train in Saline County, Ill.

A Carrier Mills, Illinois, man was taken to a hospital after the van he was driving hit a train Friday morning, according to the Saline County Sheriff’s Office.

The call reporting the crash came in at 3:45 a.m. Friday. The sheriff’s office says deputies and emergency responders at the scene found 39-year-old Candaso Murphy.

Deputies say Murphy was driving a 1994 Ford van when it hit the side of a train as it was crossing Harco Road at Illinois Highway 34 North, two miles west of Galatia. The van was dragged a few feet before the vehicle came to a stop.

Murphy was taken to Harrisburg Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, deputies say, and no one on the train was injured.

Murphy was cited for failure to yield at a train crossing.
