KSP: Deputy shoots at 15 year-old boy during traffic stop

Kentucky State Police is currently investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred in Madisonville.

Deputies from the Hopkins County Sheriff Department tried to stop the driver of a 2006 Toyota pickup truck, traveling on I-69.  KSP says the driver was a 15 year-old boy.  He tried to exit the interstate at exit 116 and lost control of his truck, causing it to travel down an embankment.

KSP says while the deputy was attempting to arrest the boy, he turned his truck toward the deputy and accelerated. The deputy fired his handgun, hitting the 15 year-old.  He was taken to Baptist Health in Madisonville for treatment.  He is listed in stable condition. A second juvenile passenger was not injured.

Charges are pending against both juveniles.
