Paducah-McCracken County Riverport Authority can establish foreign-trade zone

After years of work, the Paducah- McCracken County Riverport Authority can now establish a foreign-trade zone.

The United States Department of Commerce Foreign-Trade Board approved the Riverport’s application on November 13.

The Riverport says the foreign-trade zone will help make the area more attractive by removing some fees associated with shipping through local ports.

The new foreign-trade zone will not take effect immediately.

The Riverport says there are several administrative steps they need to complete before the zone is fully activated.
