Brookport Bridge reopens after closing due to wreck
SATURDAY UPDATE: McCracken County deputies say Kelly Mayo, 48, of Brookport, was driving northbound on the bridge and lost control of his Nissan Frontier causing it to cross both lanes of traffic.
Mayo flipped his truck, blocking both north and southbound lanes of traffic. Deputies say he was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
He was taken to Baptist Health for his injuries. He was cited to appear in court on multiple charges including DUI. He was left in the care of hospital staff because of the extent of his injuries.
The bridge was closed for about an hour and a half.
FRIDAY NIGHT UPDATE: The sheriff’s department says the collision on the Brookport Bridge has been cleared, and the bridge is now open to traffic.
The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department says the Brookport Bridge is closed because of a single-vehicle rollover wreck on the bridge.
Deputies say the bridge is closed to all traffic and drivers are being detoured. They ask that you avoid the area.
