McCracken County Fiscal Court considers convention center renovation funding proposal

At Monday’s McCracken County Fiscal Court meeting, members discussed using excess money generated from the 2 percent transient tax already in place to issue bonds to cover the cost of convention center renovations.

Convention Center Corporation Chairman Brian Katz presented the proposal. Commissioner Jerry Beyer tells Local 6 that, of the nearly $5 million in question, $1.4 million would be used to relocate the dome pavilion.

The fiscal court did not take any action on the request. Judge Executive Bob Leeper says they plan vote during the fiscal court’s next scheduled meeting on Monday, Dec. 28.
