West Kentucky RECC working to restore power to about 700 members
WEDNESDAY NIGHT UPDATE: There are about 680 customers still without power. Crews have been working to restore power to 2,100 members. As of 9pm, crews have restored power to 1,400 members.
ORIGINAL STORY: West Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation says crews are working to restore service to about 2,100 members without power due to damage from the storm system that crossed the service area Wednesday afternoon.
WKRECC says some of the repairs will require several hours to complete. It noted that members along Highway 783 north of Murray are expected to be without power for three to four hours due to downed poles.
“We apologize for the inconvenience of an outage during the Christmas season,” said WKRECC President & CEO David Smart. “We are doing everything we can to restore service as soon as possible.”
WKRECC says it has reports of downed lines in several locations, and anyone who sees downed lines should assume they are live and stay far away.
