Wanted fugitive who ran away from hospital captured
A wanted fugitive who ran away from a hospital was arrested Tuesday morning.
The Calloway County Sheriff’s Office says on December 25, two deputies were traveling down Blood River Road in the New Concord area, when a SUV traveling at a high rate of speed came up behind them with only one headlight.
When the deputies tried to stop the SUV, the driver sped away and began throwing items out of the vehicle.
The chase ended when the driver failed to go around a curve and hit a tree.
The driver, 35-year-old Christopher Carter of Paris, Tennessee, was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
Due to his injuries, the sheriff’s office was waiting for Carter to be released from the hospital before charging him.
Three days later on December 28, the hospital called the sheriff’s office saying that Carter ran away from the hospital.
A search began and Carter was arrested Tuesday morning in Benton County, Tennessee.
He was returned to Calloway County to face his charges.
