Two charged in Scott County irrigation wire theft
Two men are accused of stealing irrigation wire from a farm in Scott County, Missouri.
Investigators say 19-year-old Preston Jackson of Benton stole the wire from a local farmer and asked 19-year-old Robert Hinton Jr. of Sikeston to sell it.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Department says the cost of repairing the irrigation pivot back to full working condition is estimated at around $8,000.
Jackson and Hinton are each charged with felony stealing, felony first degree property damage, and misdemeanor first degree trespassing. The sheriff’s office says both 19 year olds remain in custody at the Scott County Jail. Jackson’s bond is set at $5,000 and Hinton’s is set at $3,500, cash only.
