City of Paducah will not install floodgates

The city of Paducah now says it will not be installing the floodgates.

According to the National Weather Service River Forecast Center, the Ohio River is expected to crest at 45.5 feet on Tuesday, January 5. That is two feet lower than the previous forecast.

City Engineer-Public Works Director Rick Murphy says this eliminates the need for the city to install the floodgates.

The city’s pump stations are working due to the river level.
