Mayfield man charged with assault in Paducah
A Mayfield man arrested on New Year’s Eve is accused of injuring a woman so severely that she spent several days in a hospital, according to Paducah police.
Police say the woman told them 31-year-old Randall Cope, assaulted her early in the morning on Dec. 22 at the Budget Inn motel at 2701 H.C. Mathis Drive in Paducah. She was admitted to a local hospital and then transferred to a hospital out of town to treat serious injuries later that morning. Police say she spent more than a week in the hospital.
Officers found Cope driving on 28th Street on Dec. 31 and arrested him on outstanding warrants charging contempt of court. After he was interviewed at the police department, Cope was charged with second degree assault and jailed in the McCracken County Regional Jail.
