Section of Old Cairo Road in McCracken County closed for bridge replacement

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says a contractor plans to close a section of Old Cairo Road in McCracken County starting Monday, Jan. 4.

KYTC spokesman Keith Todd says Old Cairo Road will be closed near the 6 mile marker in western McCracken County to allow the replacement of a bridge over Massac Creek. The road is part of Kentucky 305. It’s between Kentucky 308 and Kentucky 1565, just west of Pugh’s Midway.

Todd says there will be a marked detour via Kentucky 358 and KY 1565.

Jim Smith Contracting is the prime contractor on the $814,510 highway improvement project. Todd says the target completion date is May 15, 2016.
