US 51 Ohio River “Cairo” Bridge remains closed due to floodwaters

The US 51 Ohio River "Cairo" Bridge is still closed due to floodwaters.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says they expect the bridge to remain closed to traffic into Thursday or possibly Friday.

The bridge, which connects Wickliffe, Kentucky with Cairo, Illinois, closed to traffic due to flooding on December 31.

Traffic is having to use an 80 mile detour via Interstate 24 to go around the closed bridge.
