One suspect arrested in convenience store armed robbery

SUNDAY UPDATE: Batts tells Local 6 Marks was arrested by Pulaski County, Illinois deputies Saturday.  He is currently being held there because he faces charges in the county. Purdiman has not been located.

Ballard County Sheriff Carey Batts is investigating an armed robbery that happened Thursday at the Cutmart in Barlow.

Batts identified the two men seen in the video as Devante Marks and Maurice Purdiman.  Batts says Purdiman came into the store first to scope it out and did not show a weapon.  A few minutes, Batts says Marks can be seen entering the store, asking the clerk for a pack of cigarettes.

When she turned back, Batts says Marks pointed a gun at her and demanded cash from the register. Batts says Marks then left the store.  The employee was not hurt.
