Hospice volunteers wanted in Cape Girardeau
Southeast Hospice in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, is offering free training for volunteers to help terminally ill patients and their families.
SoutheastHEALTH says volunteers will get 12 to 15 hours of free training on subjects including communication skills, family dynamics, grief and patient/family rights.
“Whether it’s providing companionship to a person in the final months and weeks of life, offering support to family members and caregivers, or helping with community outreach and fundraising, the contributions of volunteers are essential to the important work of Southeast Hospice,” Hospice Volunteer Coordinator Pearla Smith said in a news release Friday.
Southeast Hospice serves patients and families in Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Perry and Scott counties, and parts of Stoddard, Mississippi and New Madrid counties.
