Powerball party in Paducah day after 11 claim $1 million prize

The Kentucky Lottery threw a Powerball party here in Paducah after those lucky 11 won a $1 million prize Wednesday night. Friday was more about the retailer, the Smoke Shop 2, on 8th Street in Paducah.

The store received a $10,000 check for selling those five numbers. Fran Johnson wasn’t just working Wednesday night. She, too, was hoping for good fortune. “No luck. Well, won$4,” she said.

Although she only sold the winning ticket, she’s still happy for the winner. The general manager, Brenda Bakehouse, takes a lot of pride in their lottery counter, and she’s glad the winners won there. “We love it because of the business it brings in. It’s just good for our business,” she said.

The owners of the Smoke Shop say they’re enjoying the store’s big win. They have not decided what to do with their check just yet.
