Employee confesses to embezzling money from Murray business

A woman has confessed to embezzling money from her employer.

The Murray Police Department says the owner of McKinney Insurance reported that almost $5,000 had been stolen from the business.

An investigation revealed that an employee, Susan Patterson, had altered the daily financial records for the past year.

By doing so, she was able to embezzle nearly $5,000 in cash.

Patterson confessed to embezzling the money during an interview.

She was arrested and charged with Theft by Unlawful taking over $500.

McKinney Insurance says that money was not taken from customer accounts.
