Update: Local doctor arrested, charged
Update: 4:15 a.m.
Local 6 contacted the Paducah Police Department Thursday morning in an effort to obtain a full police report regarding Dr. Ted Jefferson’s arrest. The commanding officer on duty said there was a not full release written for distribution but that Local 6 would receive a report and more information later in the day.
However, the Paducah Sun wrote an article about the circumstances surrounding Jefferson’s arrest. The article quotes information from a Paducah Police report, which shows that the entire situation involving Dr. Jefferson started on Tuesday with the chief nursing operator at Baptist Health Paducah reporting that Jefferson was having a "meltdown" during a procedure. The report, published by the Sun, said administrators gave Dr. Jefferson 30 minutes, allowed him to return to the room but then found out he immediately started questioning the staff on who complained about it. During a second confrontation with administrators, the Paducah Sun reports that Jefferson made a reference to an assault rifle. That report, published in the Sun, says Paducah Police confronted Jefferson in a nearby parking lots where he allegedly made a comment about going home and getting a handgun or rifle.
