Svante Myrick: From homeless to high office

We’re continuing our coverage of NBC’s project #NBCBLK28. The project profiles a new person each day of the month and is in celebration of Black History Month. Each nominee is chosen by NBC’s Broadcast News and Digital Teams and, as stated by NBC, is "young, gifted and unapologetically Black."

The second nominee is Svante Myrick, mayor of Ithaca, NY. He’s the youngest mayor in state history. He said he was raised in a poor family and even was homeless as a baby.
