Calloway Middle School Team 1 wins West Kentucky Regional Science Bowl

Calloway Middle School Team 1 will head to Washington, D.C. this spring after winning the 2016 DOE West Kentucky Regional Science Bowl.

The team was one of 17 middle school teams that participated in the west Kentucky bowl on Friday. The team will compete in the National Science Bowl, held from April 28 to May 2.

Jackson Bruer, a Carlisle County Middle School eighth-grader, says the bowl was, "pretty tough but pretty enjoying, because you get to learn more questions that you’ve never heard."

"You get to meet kids who are also interested in the subjects, which is really cool because you don’t see a lot of that at some of the schools," sixth-grader Ethan Roberts says.

Lone Oak Middle School took second place Friday, and Heath Middle School took third.

Other middle schools competing were: Ballard County Middle School, Cairo Jr./Sr. High School, Eldorado Middle School, Henderson County North Middle School, Reidland Middle School, Paducah Middle School, Carlisle Middle School, and St. Mary School System.
