Paducah Fleming Furniture owner arrested
Local 6 has learned that Dan Kelley, the owner of Fleming Furniture in Paducah, has been arrested.
Paducah police tell us Kelley was arrested on 10 felony charges, including seven counts of theft by failure to make required disposition of property over $500, one count of theft by failure to make required disposition of property over $10,000, one count of theft of services over $500 and one count of theft by deception over $500. He was also served two summonses for theft by failure to make required disposition of property under $500.
Assistant County Attorney Todd Jones tells us the 10 felony charges stem from people buying furniture that Fleming never ordered. According Jones, when people started to create a fuss, Fleming told people they didn’t have the money to repay them.
The Paducah Police department says it has been investigating since September, and that anyone who paid for furniture they didn’t receive should contact the McCracken County Attorney’s Office.
Kelly is facing a felony count of bad check writing. Documents show Kelly wrote a $600 check to Best one Tire and Service in Paducah. That check bounced.
Kelley was jailed in the McCracken County Regional Jail and is now out on bond. Kelly will make his first court appearance at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16.
