Firefighters battle blaze at abandoned motel

Sections of Irvin Cobb Drive and Bridge Street in Paducah are back open after a fire at an abandoned motel shut down roads overnight.

The motel is across the street from Taco John’s on Paducah’s south side.

Firefighters fought the blaze from outside because of concerns about the building’s safety.

Paducah police say no one was inside.

No word yet on what could have caused the fire.
