Carlisle County armed robbery suspect arrested

A suspect in an armed robbery in Bardwell was arrested Wednesday night, according to Kentucky State Police.

KSP says troopers, along with Carlisle County sheriff’s deputies and Bardwell police, responded to a report of an armed robbery at a Dollar General store in Bardwell. KSP says a Bardwell officer stopped a vehicle that matched the description law enforcement was given of the vehicle the robber left in, and a state trooper arrived at the scene soon after.

KSP says the man in the vehicle, 27 year-old Ian Abernathy of Paducah, had a handgun. Troopers say he was arrested without incident and charged with first degree robbery, three counts of first degree wanton endangerment, alcohol intoxication in a public place on the first offense, possession of an open alcoholic container in a motor vehicle prohibited, and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

Abernathy was jailed in the Ballard County Jail.
