Early morning crash on Kentucky interstate kills Tennessee man

A crash on Interstate 69 in Hopkins County, Kentucky killed a Tennessee man Thursday morning.

Kentucky State Police were called to I-69 just north of the 116 mile-marker around 3:45 a.m.

This section was formerly known as the Edward T. Breathitt Pennyrile Parkway, mile-marker 44.

Troopers say 50-year-old Roger Jessee of Lebanon, Tennessee, was driving a tractor-trailer south when he lost control.

The semi exited the right lane and traveled across the southbound I-69/US 41 ramp.

It then crossed the emergency lane, hit a guardrail, went down an earthen embankment, and overturned.

Jessee was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers say he was not wearing a seatbelt.

An investigation is ongoing.
