Possible Zika vaccine is one year away
The World Health Organization thinks it’ll be 18 months before a possible Zika vaccine will be ready for large-scale trials. WHO leaders say the agency’s response is, quote, "proceeding very quickly." So far, 15 companies or groups want to be possible participants in the hunt for vaccines.
WHO’s assistant director-general for health systems and innovation Marie-Paule Kieny said WHO believes the link between the virus and abnormaly small heads in some newborn children is "more and more probable."
