McCracken County School Board approves purchase of laptops for students

A local school district is continuing its laptop program for students.

During Thursday night’s board meeting, the McCracken County Board of Education agreed to buy more laptops for the district’s One-to-One Laptop initiative.

The program provides every student at McCracken County High School with a laptop.

The board approved the purchase of 2,200 Dell Chromebooks for $514,800.

A bank for students will also be opening up at McCracken County High School.

The board approved a contract that will allow Community Financial Services Bank to partner with the high school to open the bank.

Only high school students will be able to use the bank and it will comply with state and federal banking regulations.

The bank will help students learn about the fundamentals of banking.

Revisions were also approved for two documents needed for repairs and improvements at four schools. The revisions were needed to submit to the state for approval.

The repairs are:
– Replacing the cooling tower at Heath Middle School
– Replacing sump tank at Heath Middle School and Concord Elementary
– Improving accessibility at Lone Oak Middle School
– Replacing the HVAC and front entrance at Lone Oak Intermediate
