Man assaulted in McCracken Co. while helping a broken down car

McCracken County deputies say a man who stopped along I-24 to help a stalled car was beaten and assaulted by three men Friday night.

Deputies say the man stopped between the 1 and 3 mile markers. When he tried to help, that’s when deputies say the other men pulled a gun and assaulted him.  The good samaritan was later flown to a St. Louis hospital with injuries to his head, eye, cheekbone and arm.  Deputies says the man may even have injuries to his liver.

Right now deputies don’t have a suspect description or a description of the vehicle.

If you have any information about this case, you can call the sheriff’s department.
