2-vehicle wreck sends one to local hospital

One driver was taken to a local hospital Monday after a two-vehicle wreck on Benton Road in McCracken County, according to the sheriff’s department. 

Deputies were dispatched to the scene around 6:04 p.m. They say 27-year-old Benjamin Lamp of Sympsonia was headed westbound on Benton Road when he saw another car — driven by 33-year-old Andrew Olsen of Paducah stopped ahead, preparing to make a left turn on Verde Drive. Deputies say Lampe told them he tried to stop his car, but hit the rear of Olsen’s car. 

Lampe was taken to Lourdes hospital by Mercy Regional EMS for injuries deputies described as "non-incapacitating." 

In addition to Mercy Regional EMS, the Reidland-Farley Fire Department, Stinnett’s Towing and Meadow’s Towing assisted at the scene. One lane was temporarily shut down on Benton Road for clean up and investigation at the crash site.
