High school students compete in skills craft competition

High schools students showed off their skills Friday morning at the West Kentucky Community and Technical College training center regional competition.

The goal is to find the best of the best in carpentry, auto technology and welding. Welding instructor Paul Caldwell says the competition helps prepare students for the workforce.

"It’s good for the students to realize how important it is to learn these trades and how important it is to practice and become more responsible in everyday workforce situations," Caldwell says.

Friday’s winners will represent the western Kentucky region at the state level.
